What is the Korean K-ETA?

The Korea ETA application (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a streamlined digital system allowing eligible foreign travelers to apply for entry permission to South Korea. Similar to other ETA systems worldwide, the K-ETA simplifies the visa application process, enabling travelers to complete it online without needing to visit an embassy or consulate.

How the Korea ETA Application works

Eligibility Check

Not all countries are eligible for the K-ETA. Before applying, travelers should verify if their nationality qualifies for this option. The list of eligible countries is regularly updated on the Eligible Countries page. To see all other requirements, please check the Requirements page.

Application Process

Travelers fill out the Korea ETA application form online. The form requires personal details, passport information, travel dates, and a few security-related questions. The process is straightforward and designed for user convenience, typically taking 15-20 minutes to complete.

Processing and Approval

Once submitted, the K-ETA application is usually processed within a few days, though it’s recommended to apply at least a week before the planned travel date. Upon approval, the applicant receives a digital K-ETA via email, which should be saved and presented upon arrival in South Korea.

Entry to South Korea

With an approved Korea ETA, travelers can enter South Korea for tourism, business, or short-term visits for up to 90 days (depending on the nationality). If you wish to stay longer in South Korea you may need to apply for a different Visa.
